As the ESU team stated there are huge changes to Ecos PC communication protocol since firmware version 4.0.2. The specification of the new protocol is not published by ESU yet. They neither haven’t announced the terms of its sharing and asked to wait. Not only Ecos Cab but other similar apps (for iPhone and Android) have issues with the new firmware as well. From my side all I can do now is to try to use reverse-engineering to discover the issues nature unless the new specification is published. But I’m not sure about the success. All I would recommend now to have the ECos Cab working is to stay with the firmware 4.0.1.
